Your home’s bathroom will say a lot about who you are. Besides cleaning, the décor should express some of your personality and style. Redecorating a bathroom can be a fun and easy task, if you keep some key points in mind.

You should first choose a theme for your new bathroom. If it’s a child’s room, there are many child friendly products to choose from. But let’s assume that it’s a master bath, or even a guest or spare bathroom. You’ll want to choose a color scheme. If you don’t plan to completely remodel, meaning the floor and walls will remain the same, then be sure to base your color scheme on colors that are already included in the bath. For instance, if your walls have a blue border, then you’ll want to be sure and incorporate blue as one of your main color choices.

Bathroom sets come in up to 7 pieces, and you can get shower curtains in the same color or scheme. Let’s say you choose a palm tree look. Palm trees are becoming very popular, and the look can be very exotic and relaxing. So, now you have your bath set and your shower curtain, what’s next? You can change your bathroom border, assuming that it doesn’t already match the theme. But let’s say you have all that, and you’re ready to add pieces that will really accent the theme.

Pictures make a bathroom feel friendly and peaceful. You can find pictures that will withstand the humidity that your bathroom will endure, during showers and hot baths. Choose pictures that compliment the palm tree theme. Pictures of lighthouse look beautiful in bathrooms, or you can simply place pictures of palm trees on the walls. Only two to three pictures should be used. Bathrooms normally have limited wall space, so you want to be sure not to make it appear over crowded. And be sure to match the frames to things that are already in the bath. If you have shelves, be sure that the frame colors don’t clash with the shelf colors, you want the entire room to have a smooth flow, and look organized.

You can add a corner plant, preferably not a real one, since real plants may have difficulty thriving in the humidity. A small palm tree would look beautiful and you can find these at many home improvement stores. A small wrought iron shelf will also add to the feel of the room without over crowding it. You can place soaps, hand towels, etc. on a shelf and add to the décor of the room.

The main thing to remember when redecorating your bathroom is to choose your theme first. You can find many products to compliment whatever theme you decide on, but remember the room should always look inviting, and be a reflection of your own personal style.
