Bedroom Decoration Ideas
Your bedroom should be a haven, somewhere that you can go to unwind and to block out the rest of the busy world. Redecorating your bedroom to make it more appealing and relaxing isn’t a hard task, and doesn’t have to be expensive. In fact, it’s something that you can do in a weekend with just a few tips.
Start with your bedroom furniture. Furniture placement should be done so that you have a natural flow. This simply means that you don’t want furniture crowded together, and you want to be able to move throughout the room without bumping into things. If you have a small bedroom, you can still have a good flow, if you place your furniture in the correct positions. The bed should be placed with the headboard against the largest wall away from doors and windows. Be sure to leave room between the bed and your doorway, so that the door doesn’t obstruct the pathway to your bed. Night tables should be placed at least one foot away from the side of the bed. That way they are still within reach, but you don’t have the problem of them bumping the bed, and possibly knocking things off the table while you’re sleeping. If your night tables don’t match your bed, for instance if they are not part of a bedroom suit, you can still use them to accent the room. They might even be made of a different material. They don’t have to necessarily “go” with the furniture. You can cover them with material that matches your comforter or bedspread. Simply go to a fabric shop or any department store, and purchase material, preferably in a solid color, that matches your bed’s material. For instance, if your comforter has a burgundy base, with other colors combined, then you’ll want to get material in burgundy. Cut the material in the shape of your table, round or square, and be sure to cut it so that it will reach the floor, but not lay on the floor. It needs to just touch the floor, no longer.
Now, your night tables look like they were made to match your bed. That was easy, right? Another really good tip is to never let your room look cluttered. Presentation is key. Keep things that you don’t use frequently put out of sight. Dressers and night stands should always look organized. Pictures, perfume bottles, and jewelry boxes are great for adding a personal touch, but don’t use too many. You can have too much of a good thing, and if you overdo, then the room will look unorganized and cluttered.
Organizing and changing the look and feel of your bedroom may sound like a chore, but it’s really just a small task that will give you a more peaceful feeling when you enter the room, and make your guests think that you’ve spent countless hours and lots of money redecorating.

I really enjoyed your article, especially the tip about keeping your nightstand away from your bed so that you don’t knock things over while you’re sleeping. I’ve done that myself a few times. I recently wrote a piece about what not to do when decorating your bedroom called, Top Ten Bedroom Design Blunders. I was hoping you might check it out and give some feedback.
Thanks!
