Chinese Home Decors
Chinese décor boasts beautiful and tranquil furnishings. Mostly thru the use of a method known as Feng Shui.
Feng Shui is the practice of using ancient Chinese methods of placement and arrangement of space to achieve vast harmony within the environment. The technique of decorating via Feng Shui is based on ancient Chinese philosophies and practices. The Feng Shui color schemes are interpreted differently for each individual based on their birth year, which also relates to that person’s basic elements of earth, water, wood, fire, and metal. For example, a person born in the year of wood would use green as their basic color scheme, and avoid red, which symbolizes fire, because fire destroys wood.
Feng Shui can be used both inside and outside the home. Gardens with lovely Buddha statuettes or Jade Pagoda’s are met with the Feng Shui philosophy. Placement of plants and ponds is an integral part of Chinese Decorating.
You can start out slowly, and perhaps place a bamboo wall fan, or an old village style stone tile Wall Art above a couch or bed. You can add to the décor by simply placing incense burners, or small carvings of elephants or other Chinese art on nearby tables.
Feng Shui really sounds more complicated than it is. You simply place your furnishings and decorations in such a way that you feel relaxed and calm when you enter into that room, or even your garden.
You can add swords, dragons, even Feng Shui coins to your décor to give it the ancient Chinese look and feel, with a modern twist. The idea behind Chinese décor is clean space, and energy. The things that you decorate with should ultimately be based on your individual likes, and what gives you energy. Choosing a Chinese décor for your home, garden, or even your office, will give the impression of energization, organization, and a sense of the individual. Simply placing a Chinese dragon statue on a clean and organized desk will give off vibes of energy, and organization.
Alternately, if you would rather, you can plan a complete renovation of your home or office décor, and add the Feng Shui feel all at once. You can purchase furniture made from Rosewood or Bamboo. Consider adding a Chinese sofa table, or an antique cabinet to your living room. Hang a sword or Chinese wall art above a table or fireplace mantel. The possibilities are endless, you simply need to find your own style, and what makes you feel most comfortable and relaxed.
The art of Feng Shui is a timeless tradition. By using the Feng Shui technique, you instill peace and harmony into your home or office, as well as into your life. The energy that you, and anyone who enters the room, will feel will be definitely worth the planning that you did to find the perfect décor for that particular part of your home.
Just remember that in Chinese décor, you want to add space and organization. You don’t want to pile too many object together, or you will lost the key focus of Feng Shui. When finished, your newly decorated room or office should be inviting, and not give an overwhelming impression of objects. Simply start with one or two objects, and build your décor around them.
