Decorating for the 4th of July
We all know that the foundation colors for July 4th are red, white, and blue. What many of you may not know is that you can incorporate these colors into your home décor for the holiday’s celebration, and use the color theme even after the holiday is past.
Flags are, of course, the number one decoration for July 4th. If you use flags, then this is probably when you have them in your home. However, flags can, and should be, displayed anytime that you want to show them. For those who have soldiers overseas, having a flag in your home is a wonderful way to show support. Guests will be very impressed that you are thinking of our soldiers even when the 4th has come and gone. Small flags can be purchased very inexpensively, and look beautiful in flower arrangements. Place one in a vase of fresh flowers for an extra special touch during July.
Many people will decorate a dining room with dishes that are specifically for the 4th of July. You can, however, use dishes that are great for all year, and still look very festive. Start with a large white place, stack a smaller dark or navy blue plate on the white one, and top it off with a red saucer or small bowl. You can even alternate the colors at different chairs on the table. Add a centerpiece of flowers and that small flag, and you have a wonderfully decorated dining room for July 4th, that can be taken down and re-arranged later for other color schemes.
Accenting your home décor to flow with a holiday does not have to be expensive. You can use things that you already have around your home, and when the holiday is over, you simply use them again for the next upcoming event.
