Holiday Home Decor
The Holiday season is fast approaching, and with it the stress of gift buying, endless holiday parties, and, of course, choosing the decorations that will add beauty and holiday spirit to your home. Decorating your home for the holidays does not have to be a massive time consuming, or even a stressful task. Here are a few small things that you can do to your current home décor to add just a bit of the Christmas spirit, without breaking the bank, and without eating up a lot of time.
Everyone has windows in their home. By simply placing a boxwood or small wreath in each window, you can add a festive touch. Small wreaths can be purchased very inexpensively at craft shops or department stores. You might even consider hanging holly with berries in the center of each window, and tying it together with a red satin or velvet ribbon.
If you have a chandelier, you can also place boxwood on it to give it a holiday boost. Just drape a small garland around it, and maybe add some lightweight ornaments, tied with ribbon to the garland. Be sure that the ornaments are shatter-proof to save yourself the frustration of possibly having them fall and break, as well as the time to clean them up. Also be sure that they do not drop too far down so that they may interrupt your walking space under the chandelier.
Around mirrors, hand small, clear tree lights, and add a small swag of pine with red berries and/or ribbons. The light reflecting off the mirror will add a decorative touch to the whole room.
No matter which room you choose to decorate, adding just a few small pieces is a wonderful way to get your home in the holiday spirit, without taking away from your holiday gift cash. Just remember not to overdo it. Even when decorating for the holidays, less is more. Adding just a few key pieces will look beautiful, and still not seem overbearing. After all, you want Santa to visit, not move in.
