Home Décor for Winter
Decorating your home in winter can be a huge help in keeping you warm during the cold winter months. Although it does not really make sense to completely overhaul your home décor with every change of season, there are a few things that you can do to make your home feel warmer, without breaking your budget.
The first key in presenting a warmer atmosphere in your home décor is to decorate with warm colors. Colors that are associated with fire, such as gold, orange, and red, give an instant feeling of warm and cozy. You can add these items in curtains, throw pillows, even blankets, and give yourself an extra boost of warmth. Something else to consider in your quest for a warmer home is to cover up hardwood floors. Although they are very beautiful, and wonderful during the hot summer months, during winter hardwood floors can be downright freezing to walk on. Throw a rug down, especially on areas that are traveled frequently, such as the path that you walk from the doorway of one room to the doorway of another. You could also consider putting down carpeting during the winter. You can have a piece of carpeting cut down and the sides bound so that they won’t ravel, and place it on the floors that have hardwood. Then when the weather warms up, you can simply roll up the carpeting and store it away until next winter.
Cinnamon is a wonderful aroma to have in your home for winter months. The smell of cinnamon instantly warms you. You can purchase candles with apple, cinnamon, or pine, as well as scented room sprays. Candles can now be bought in a variety of sizes and shapes and look beautiful, as well as give off a wonderful aroma. Burning candles in apple and/or cinnamon will give your home an instantly warm feeling.
